When I first heard the idea of an armrest for mandolins I was not impressed - it seemed a little unnecessary. But, after trying one just once I was hooked. The armrest is really comfortable with the slightly rounded top. The 15 degree angle also helps position the arm and hand correctly for good picking posture. The armrest clamps on the edge of the instrument and protects the top from sweat and skin oil when playing and does not inhibit the vibrations of the top.
Ebony and curly maple armrests for mandolins (10" diameter body) and
bouzoukis (12" diameter body) are available off the shelf. Measure the thickness of your instrument at the edge and choose the correct thickness when ordering. Please go to the Mandolin Armrest page or the Bouzouki Armrest page for pictures and ordering. I can also custom make armrests to fit your instrument with wood and color of your choosing - call or e-mail with detailed requirements. Call or e-mail for availability and/or an estimate on your specific needs. |
